Objects that bend, dent and break

A simulation engine built on the finite element method, for deformation, plasticity and fracture. Use it in Blender with the plugin, or in your own tools with the Rust, Python and C SDKs.

Free for 7 days, in the Blender plugin and in the Rust, Python and C SDKs. The plugin runs in Blender 5.2 or later on macOS, Linux and Windows.

Everything an object needs to bend, dent and break

Simulation

The finite element method on tetrahedral meshes: an implicit solve per substep, with corotated linear elasticity, so objects stay stable through large rotations.

Fracture and splinters

Objects break where stress pulls them apart. Splinter patterns, from bricks and tiles to wood and glass, shape the pieces.

Plasticity

Plasticity and creep: metal dents and stays dented, clay keeps the shape you push it into.

Collisions

Objects collide with each other and with themselves, with continuous collision for fast objects, friction and glue.

Mesh tools

Tetrahedralize, triangulate, extrude, span layers, autocage, splinters from an image, verify a surface, find intersecting meshes.

Render surfaces

Your render mesh rides on the simulated object, with clipping, inner faces and splinters, and it is deformed every frame.

43 material presets

From sponge, foam, jelly and rubber to wood, glass, concrete, stone and metals, with unbreakable rubber and rebar.

Deterministic

The same inputs give bitwise identical results, run to run and for any number of worker threads, on the same build.

Blender plugin and SDKs

One engine, two ways in: the Blender plugin, with nodes, modifiers and actions in Blender 5.2 or later, and the Rust, Python and C SDKs. One trial and one license cover both.

From download to license in five steps

Step 1

Download

Download the trial zip for your system. In Blender, choose Edit > Preferences > Get Extensions > Install from Disk.

Step 2

7-day trial

The plugin starts the trial, and the SDKs share it. Every feature works, up to 2,500 tetrahedrons per simulation.

Step 3

Buy

Click Buy license in the plugin or on this page, and pay $99 once on the payment page.

Step 4

Key by email

Your license key arrives by email right after you pay.

Step 5

Activate

Paste the key in the plugin preferences and click Activate, or activate it from an SDK. Deformable shows Licensed and the limit is gone, also offline.

Download Deformable

Try the Blender plugin, or build the engine into your own tools with the Rust, Python and C SDKs. The free 7-day trial and the Standard license cover all of them.

The crate deformable brings the engine into your Rust programs. Its first build downloads libdeformable, the engine library, for your system.

Rust 1.85 or later. Free 7-day trial. Rust guide

  1. Add the crate to your project, then build or run it:

    cargo add deformable
  2. To ship your program, put the library next to it. The Rust guide shows how.

Offline builds: set DEFORMABLE_LIB_DIR to the absolute path of the lib folder of the C SDK zip, and the build downloads nothing; the Rust guide shows how to run your program then.

The package deformable brings the engine into your Python tools. It is pure Python with no dependency, and its wheels carry the library for macOS Apple silicon, Linux x64 and Windows x64.

Python 3.9 or later. Free 7-day trial. Python guide

pip install deformable

One header and one library, for any host that speaks C or C++. Each zip holds deformable.h, the shared and static library, the CMake package files and the license.

The download list is not available right now. Try again soon, or write to support@tangerina.io.

Unzip it, then include deformable.h from include/ and link libdeformable from lib/, or use the CMake package. C guide

The download list is not available right now. Try again soon, or write to support@tangerina.io.

Install the zip from Blender: Edit > Preferences > Get Extensions > Install from Disk. Install guide

Try it free. Buy it once.

Start with the free trial, in the Blender plugin or the SDKs. When you need bigger simulations, one license unlocks the engine for good: the plugins and the SDKs.

Trial

Freefor 7 days

Every feature of the Blender plugin and the SDKs, to try them on your own scenes.

  • Blender plugin and Rust, Python and C SDKs
  • All features
  • Up to 2,500 tetrahedrons per simulation
  • 7 days, then Deformable stops
  • Internet needed once, to start the trial

Questions and answers

What does the trial include?

Every feature of the Blender plugin and the Rust, Python and C SDKs for 7 days, up to 2,500 tetrahedrons per simulation. The plugin and the SDKs on one computer share one trial. The plugin shows how many days are left, for example "Trial: 7 days left".

On day 8 it shows "Trial ended — Buy license", and the tools and the simulation stop, in the plugin and the SDKs. Reinstalling the plugin or an SDK does not restart the trial.

What does the 2,500 tetrahedron limit mean?

It counts the tetrahedrons of all objects in one simulation. A bigger simulation does not run during the trial and shows "Trial limit: 2500 tetrahedrons". Use coarser tetrahedral meshes to stay under it, or buy a license to remove it.

Do I need an internet connection?

Once to start the trial, and once to activate a license. After that Deformable works offline, but a license needs a renewal at least once every 7 days of use: it renews quietly whenever you use Deformable online. After about 7 days offline, it asks you to go online one time. Computers that are never online are not supported.

Can I use one license on two computers?

No. One Standard license is 1 seat, and 1 seat covers 1 device. A second computer needs its own license. To change computers, move the license as described below.

How do I move my license to a new computer?

On the old computer, open the plugin preferences and click Deactivate, or deactivate from an SDK. Then activate your key on the new computer.

If the old computer is gone, remove it in the license portal, then activate on the new one.

I lost my license key. How do I get it back?

Open the license portal and enter the email you bought with. You get a login link by email. Open it and copy your key. You can also write to support@tangerina.io.

Can I get a refund?

Write to support@tangerina.io with your purchase email. After a refund, the license stops at its next renewal: within a day when the computer is online, and within about 7 days when it stays offline.

Which Blender versions and platforms work?

Blender 5.2 or later, on macOS (Apple silicon), Linux x64 and Windows x64. Download the trial zip for your system: each zip works on its own system only.

How do I get the SDKs?

The Standard license includes the Rust, Python and C SDKs. Install the Rust crate from crates.io with cargo add deformable, the Python package from PyPI with pip install deformable, and download the C SDK zip from the Download section. The free trial covers the SDKs too: 7 days, up to 2,500 tetrahedrons per simulation. To activate a license from an SDK, call its activate function. One activation covers the plugin and the SDKs on that computer. The licensing documentation says more.

Is the license a subscription?

No. You pay $99 (USD) once, and the license is perpetual.
