Privacy Policy

This policy says what data Tangerina Inc. ("Tangerina", "we") collects when you use tangerina.io, docs.tangerina.io and Tangerina Deformable, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

The short version

• The websites set no cookies and use no analytics or ads.
• Your scenes, meshes and simulation results stay on your computer.
• We keep only what we need to sell a license, keep it working and answer your emails.
• We never sell your data.

What we collect

When you visit the websites or download the software

The websites are static pages, and the downloads are files on downloads.tangerina.io. Our hosting provider receives the technical data of each request, such as your IP address, browser or download tool and the page or file you ask for, to deliver and protect the sites and the downloads. This includes the first build of a Rust program that uses the Rust SDK, which downloads the engine library from downloads.tangerina.io with curl. We do not use this data to identify you.

When you buy a license

Stripe takes the payment. Stripe collects your name, email address, billing address and payment details. We receive your name, email address, country and what you bought. We never see your full card number.

When you start a trial or activate a license

Keylight, our licensing provider, makes your license key and emails it to you. The license check is in the engine library, so the Blender plugin and the Rust, Python and C SDKs all send the same data to Keylight:

• A hash of your computer's device id, made on your computer, and a random id for the trial on this computer.
• Your license key and the id of its activation, if you have a license.
• When you activate a license, the name of your computer, so you can tell your computers apart in the license portal. It often holds your own name.
• The version of Deformable, your operating system and its version, the processor type, and rough ranges of the number of processor cores and of the memory size.
• Your IP address, as with any internet request. Keylight uses it to limit how many requests one address can make.

Keylight stores them with the date your trial started and the computers your license is active on. While you are online and use Deformable, the engine reports the trial about once a day and renews the license a few times a day at most. In Blender, nothing is sent while Allow Online Access is off in Blender's preferences.

When you write to us

We keep the emails you send to support@tangerina.io, with any files you attach, to answer you.

What the software does not send

The Blender plugin and the SDKs do not send us your scenes, meshes, settings or simulation results. They send only the license data above.

Why we use it

• To sell you a license and deliver the software.
• To make the trial and the license work on your computer.
• To answer support emails and process refunds.
• To prevent fraud and misuse of licenses.
• To keep the records that tax and accounting law requires.

Who processes it

We share data only with the providers that run parts of the service for us:

• Cloudflare hosts the websites and the downloads.
• Stripe processes payments.
• Keylight makes, emails and checks license keys.
• Our email provider stores support emails.

Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy. Some of them process data in countries other than yours. We also share data when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep purchase and license records while your license exists, and after that for as long as tax and accounting law requires. We keep support emails for as long as we need them to help you. Request data at the hosting provider is kept only for a short time.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, and ask us to correct or delete it. Depending on where you live, you can also object to how we use it, ask us to limit it, or complain to your data protection authority. To ask, email support@tangerina.io from the address the data belongs to. If we delete your license records, your license stops working.

Children

Our products are not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the top. For a large change, we also email license holders.
